Trudeau begs Facebook to fix its “fake news” problems or face more regulation from Ottawa.

Trudeau issued the warning at a meeting with Sandberg at the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation forum in Vietnam last November.

According to The Star, Trudeau told Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg in November he was worried the company wasn’t doing enough to stop the spread of “misleading information”.

Canadian political parties are getting ready for the 2019 federal election, and Trudeau is threatening for Ottawa to intervene if Facebook doesn’t correct their “fake news” problem.

“We stand with the lawmakers around the world, including in Canada, in their efforts to protect the democratic process,” Kevin Chan, Facebook’s policy chief in Canada, The Star reports. “We will continue to work with lawmakers on the right solution, but we aren’t waiting for legislation to start getting solutions in place now.”

Facebook Canada claims the company has 10,000 employees assigned to “safety and security globally” and plans to double that number to 20,000!

Final Thoughts

Ottawa is terrified of the reach and power of Facebook and its ability to influence the 2019 elections.

With hundreds of groups and pages dedicated to bashing Justin Trudeau, Facebook is perhaps the biggest platform in Canada for Trudeau haters to flock to and post their grievances about our horrible PM and his Liberal Government.

As Canadian political parties gear up for the 2019 federal election, Trudeau is threatening for Ottawa to intervene if Facebook doesn’t correct their “fake news” problem. But in reality, Justin Trudeau is really afraid of the REAL news getting out that shows he’s an unethical traitorous moron who possesses a weak grip on the English language!

For the sake of people-kind, let the truth be free!
